14-page-flyer-web

The Mustache Gallery will host Procession; a playful exercise in Sumi ink portraits from my imagination.
This exhibit will be a collection of medium sized ink wash paintings on panel, that explore characters and repeated patterns found in my other works.
The small series will grow over the years and this is the first six portraits. Directly related to The Ancestrals show that I had this past April the characters and styles explore religious and spiritual  iconography;
referencing Indian culture,  classic Renaissance techniques to modern technologies and ideas. I hope you enjoy the glimpse into my inner workings and join me for the opening.

When: August 20th, 6-10pm,
Where: The Mustache gallery

We The People, 2006-2008
Screenprint, acrylic, plasti-dip and epoxy-resin on panel

The We The People series is based upon the original 10 Amendments of US Bill of Rights. Erkfitz has taken the original verbiage and coupled it with high contrast iconic images that depict both the intended purpose of the images that depict both the intended purpose of the amendments as well as how they are being misused by modern government and misconstrued by modern media.

The series is intended as an education tool and an artistic statement on current events. The works political stance is bipartisan, not intending the outcomes of the pieces to reflect a right or left political position.

Erkfitz has taken inspiration from some of the strongest statements of liberty and freedom in human history to create this series and hopes to reestablish the concerns of the people and their voice over the government.
